Onshoring

Definition

Outsourcing business operations to a service provider located within the same country as the client, as opposed to nearshore or offshore delivery.

Business Importance

Onshoring typically carries the highest FTE cost of the three delivery models but eliminates time-zone and, in some cases, regulatory data-residency concerns entirely.

Industry Examples

A US healthcare company keeping patient-facing support onshore to simplify HIPAA data-residency requirements.
